Yuki Onna is actually sister to Ice Queen, the shop that offers liquid nitrogen ice cream at One Raffles Place. Instead of cold desserts or ice cream, this is actually an izakaya (Japanese Gastropub) that offers DIY Chirashi Bowls where you can get to choose from the list of fish, carbs and toppings! If you find it hard to choose, there are also a number of ready-to-order donburi, noodles and sushi sets! Calling all CBD office workers out there, this can be your healthy fix of salad bowls for lunch and dinner.
NOTE: The dinner menu is the same as lunch menu for the time being. The owner mentioned that there will be a new dinner menu and drinks in the near future!
The Menu and Pricing:
- MYOB – Make Your Own Bowl (MEDIUM)
Medium size of the MYOB is already quite a heavy meal by itself. We chose the Original Shoyu Salmon and Yuzu Tuna, both of which comes chopped up in cubes. Chose sushi rice for the carbs, as well as a number of toppings from the list of more than 20 toppings available. There is even additional salad and dressing mixed into the bowl, even if you chose sushi rice or quinoa as your carb choice. The salmon and tuna are pretty good, fresh and seasoned well with shoyu and yuzu respectively. Certainly a good bowl of salad for a healthier choice!
- TRUFFLE BEEF YAKINIKU
Filled with slices of beef seasoned with truffle essence, accompanied with a beautiful onsen egg. The truffle taste is quite mild but compliments well with the tender juicy beef. Break the yolk of the onsen egg and enjoy the rice mixed with the flowing yolk, together with the slices of the truffle beef. Delicious!
- COLD TRUFFLE SOMEN WITH HOTATE
This dish has been well received by many, and we are glad that we had the chance to try it! The essence of truffle fragrance actually goes really well with the smooth and silky cold somen noodles. Those white pieces you see are actually Hokkaido Hotate (scallops) which are topped with some caviar. Definitely a great cold and refreshing dish perfect for the hot weather in Singapore.
Also, kudos to the onsen tamago, which is nicely cooked and topped with nori strips and ikura (fish roe).
