[UPDATE!] Kam’s Roast @ Pacific Plaza

The long awaited Michelin star restaurant from Hong Kong has arrived! Located at Pacific Plaza just beside Tsuta 1 Michelin star ramen, Kam’s Roast in Singapore will offer Hong Kong style Roasted duck, Roasted pork, Cha Siu and Soya Chicken but not the original goose meat from Hong Kong. However, do not be disheartened, as their roasted duck quality will still be as great as their roasted goose. Using his family recipe and cooking techniques, Kam is determined to provide customers a heartwarming and memorable dining experience.

Kam’s Roast is now commemorating their 1ooth day of opening by giving out $100 vouchers (to be used on the next dine-in) to every 100th paying dine-in customers! Promotion will be on until the end of March, and there is no cap in the number of winners!

This new premium high-tea set features each piece of Kam’s Roast signature roasted meat; the all famous “Toro” Char Siu, sweet BBQ Char Siu, Crispy Roasted Pork, some roasted duck with springy braised noodles, crunchy marinated cucumber, Red Bean Soup with ‘12 years old’ aged orange peel and Chinese tea. The red bean soup which we have not tried before has a rather unique dried mandarin orange taste to it. The normal version of the High Tea Set does not come with roasted duck and noodles.
High Tea Sets are only available daily (except P.H.) from 2.30PM – 5.30PM

Originated from the Hong Kong Kam’s Roast Goose branch, these legacy products are now available in Singapore! The lap cheong (lean pork sausage) is not bad and has quality, whereas the cured goose liver is something very different, it has an earthy, rich and slight bitter taste that we may not be familiar with, but it is something interesting to try.

Duck rice can be found everywhere in Singapore, but what makes this a worthy Michelin Star dish is the way Kam’s restaurant prepare the roasted duck. Marinated and roasted in similar fashion to its Hong Kong branch, the succulent duck meat is soft, tender and has a nice roasted skin texture. It is served with white rice and some sour plum sauce. You can also have the roasted duck with noodles ($10.80) instead of rice, their braised noodles are made from quality noodles flown in directly from Hong Kong.

Their 1/2 portion or whole duck is suitable if you are dining with friends or family. It comes with a good amount of savoury sauce on a large plate, which makes it even juicer and tasty to the bite. You can order rice ($2.00) or braised noodles ($6.80) to go with the duck.

This is their highly acclaimed dish – Toro Char Siu, which is made up of melt-in-your-mouth layers of fatty meat seasoned in a secret marinated sweet sauce, barbecued to a nice caramelised charred edge. It is one of the most delicious meat we have eaten, we couldn’t stop thinking about the savoury sweet smoky aftertaste as we left the restaurant! We feel that we could order another plate as these 10 odd bite-sized pieces are not quite enough for sharing. The standard portion of $22.80 is shown in the picture.

Other notable dishes are the Crispy Pork Belly ($14.80) which is delicious and has a very crispy crackling skin, and the BBQ Pork Char Siu ($14.80) which is less fatty than the Toro Char Siu and seasoned with honey sauce making it a delicious sweet treat.

Directions: Alight at Orchard MRT Station (Red line NS22) and exit at Exit A into Ion Orchard Link. Turn left, and take the escalator up. Turn left again and walk through the underground walkway towards Shaw House (Do not turn right to Scotts Road). Take the escalator up to Shaw House entrance and turn right, and then left again away from the ice-cream shop, Gelatissimo. Walk pass Shaw House to Pacific Plaza. Right behind Tsuta 1 michelin star ramen is Kam’s Roast.
