Have you ever tried Thai Yentafo (Yong Tau Foo) with its special pink sauce before? Well now you can! Introducing Yentafo Kruengsonge, a new Thai restaurant that has established its first Singapore outlet at Cineleisure Orchard, serving authentic Thai Yentafo, Tom Yum Noodles and Thai rice dishes. Its pricing is rather wallet-friendly given their location, a bowl of Yentafo with 5 ingredients can cost as low as $6.50. Thai desserts and drinks are also available.
The collection of food is split into 2 sides, drinks are collected beside the cashier counter, while at the far end of the restaurant is for food collection.
There will be 2 other outlets (located at One@Kentridge and Kallang Wave Mall) to be opened in the near future.
The Menu and Pricing:
- YUM CRISPY SALMON SKIN
We had a hard time choosing from the list of delicious looking appetisers they offer, and finally we selected the crispy salmon skin with yum sauce. It is a decision that we did not regret! We enjoyed it and it is that yum sauce that makes the salmon skin so special.
- YENTAFO KRUENGSONGE SOUP (9 INGREDIENTS)
Their signature Yentafo certainly looks like the Chinese Yong Tau Foo, except that this comes with flat kway teow noodles and authentic pink sauce made from fermented red tofu. It has a light sweetness to it, and it is fairly spicy (we chose the medium spicy level). Some of the 9 ingredients include fishballs, tao pok, salmon skin, fried taro, glass jelly (used to replace pig’s blood). Dry versions of Yentafo are also available.
- NAMPRIK KHAI POO
This rice dish is quite interesting, different kinds of vegetables such as raw long beans, raw cabbage rolls, vegetable pancakes, sliced fried eggplants are given together with fried egg on rice. The name “Namprik Khai Poo” actually stands for Spicy Crab Egg Paste which is given as a dip for the ingredients. It is a blend of sweet, sour and spiciness, a delightful and enjoyable dish. Not as spicy as the Yantafo.
