Originated from Tokyo, this restaurant serves an interesting combination of food: Artisanal Japanese Karaage (fried chicken) with fresh salad and topped with a sauce of your choice from the list. Their Karaage is marinated in buttermilk for 6 hours before frying for 2 times in low heat, comes out totally different from the fast food version of deep fried chicken.
THE MENU AND PRICING
- YUZU PEPPER KARAAGE PLATE
Yuzu seems to be becoming another food craze as it appears in many different kinds of dish from sushi to salads to soba, and this as a sauce on fried chicken. A platter of karaage and salad that comes with yuzu pepper sauce, this dish is a balanced mixture of fried and healthy food. The karaage is crispy and lightly salted without the taste of overused oil, and the meat is tender and juicy. When eaten with the yuzu sauce, the taste just changes to a special sweet, soury and tangy flavour that refreshes our taste buds. The salad is a mixture of fresh assorted vegetables including lettuce, baby corns, diced tomatoes, carrot strips, etc, and is topped with light salad dressing. This set meal comes with a bowl of plain Japanese rice and a small bowl of miso soup.
- COD ROE MAYONNAISE KARAAGE
This sauce is rather interesting, a mixture of cod roe with tangy mayonnaise gives off a combo that is less piquant but with a tad of cod roe taste. When eaten with this sauce, the crispy chicken becomes sweet and with an umami taste.
Cost: $8.00 (4 pieces)
Overall, the dishes are rather interesting, and their sauce are tasty and unique. They do have many other sauces to try including honey mustard, korean barbecue sauce, korean rad chilli sauce, etc. The fried chickens are freshly fried, and you can taste the difference from those fast food versions. Staff are friendly and will frequently ask customers if the food satisfies them. The inner section of the restaurant feels a bit more cosy than the outside seats which is actually facing the food court.
