A local brand of Japanese ramen, Kanshoku serves Hakata style ramen, sakes and beers. Founded by 2 close friends, the word Kanshoku means to finish every last bit of your food. There are 2 outlets, one of which is located in Orchard Gateway and another in Buona Vista’s commercial area. A unique thing about this restaurant is that they integrated truffle oil into some of their dishes.
THE MENU AND PRICING:
An ordering form is used to order food, and there is a choice of texture for your noodle.
- SIGNATURE KANSHOKU RAMEN
Their signature dish is made up of tonkotsu broth, thin straight noodles, some slices of chashu pork belly and seaweed. The milky pork based broth has a light taste and the noodles are springy, soft and easy to chew. Those chashu pork is similar to other ramen restaurants.
- TRUFFLE BROTH RAMEN
Truffle has found its way to many different cuisines and dishes ranging from fries to wanton noodles to pizzas, and also to Japanese ramen. In this version of ramen, a generous amount of truffle paste is given atop the slices of chashu pork and some black truffle given to further enhance the flavour. Upon mixing, the paste is infused into the broth while the thin noodles soaks up the broth’s essence giving it a very truffle taste in every mouthful of the dish. For those who love ramen and truffle, this is the dish that you have to try.
Overall, the service is okay, and this is not an enclosed restaurant and is located in Orchard Gateway, therefore the environment may be quite crowded. The truffle ramen is unique and delicious.
