Yet another local Fast Food Restaurant, Chop Chop serves fried chicken with a variety of different sauce: their signature Chop Chop sauce, Ponzu sauce, Teriyaki sauce, Curry sauce and Fruity Chilli sauce. Their fried chicken comes with either fries or Japanese rice. There is also a breakfast menu for those who visit the restaurant early. The drinks are free flow too.
Situated on the same level as Burger Up, the restaurant uses electronic self-ordering system similar to those of Burger Up and McDonald’s. They open until quite late at night, which can be a good supper place for those who live in Punggol.
THE MENU AND PRICING:
The food ordered:
- CHOP CHOP CHICKEN BURGER
A large piece of chicken smeared with their signature Chop Chop sauce sandwiched between burger buns dwarfed by the chicken, this burger is just fantastic. The crispy and tender chicken mixed with the sauce overwhelms our tastebuds with the distinct essence of this interesting sauce. Upon interviewing one of the staff we learned that the sauce is made up of Tar Tar sauce and Hainanese Chilli, which gives the fried chicken a tangy and spicy flavour. The spiciness is just right and does not suppress the other taste. Fries are crispy and is lightly salted.
- FRIED CHICKEN RICE BOWL WITH CHOP CHOP SAUCE & SOUS VIDE EGG
Similar to the burger, the large piece of crispy chicken with Chop Chop sauce is awesomely delicious too. The rice to our delight is not white rice, but Japanese rice. However, the best part is the Sous Vide Egg which is something like soft-boiled egg with a somewhat hardened yolk.
- FRIED CHICKEN WITH PONZU SAUCE
Comes with some big pieces of fried chicken which is similarly crispy and tender, when eaten with Ponzu sauce, gives a taste that is a mixture of sweet, sour and savoury. The unique and tasty sauce itself contains vinegar, soy and a rich citrus base like lemon or yuzu. Fries are crispy and lightly salted.
Overall, the place is like a fast food restaurant, and their service is commendable. The staff are friendly and even asked us to refill our drinks before turning off the drink dispenser, as we are almost near to closing time. The chickens are crispy and delicious when mixed with their unique sauces.
