Another Singaporean favourite hawker food, the Pig’s Organ Soup is a meaty pork dish that is boiled with pork bones and pickled vegetables broth. Located near Jalan Besar road, this eatery with its big red signboard is a hard to miss stop for your healthier soup cravings. Opens till late night until 5AM on most days, it can be a great midnight supper choice.
THE MENU AND PRICE:
- THE SOUP
Containing a medley of pig offals, meatballs, pork belly, tofu and salted vegetables in a bowl of delicious soup, this dish provides a strong fragrance and meaty, piquant and salty taste. The intestines are soft and has a bouncy texture, while the kidney has a smooth and rubbery texture, and both of them does not have pungent taste. Meatballs are juicy and flavourful, and the pork belly tastes great. The vegetables are well marinated providing the soup with the saltiness it needs. The soup is not too greasy and has a great flavour in it. The chilli that comes with this dish is awesome too with its watery state and a delicious mix of soy, bean paste and vinegar; try a mixture of some chilli, soup and a piece of meat on a spoon, it simply tastes fantastic.
- STEAMED MINCED MEAT WITH CHESTNUT AND SALTED FISH
With such a lengthy name, this piece of steamed minced meat tastes a bit like luncheon meat, but not as salty. It is soft and the meaty taste is strong. The chilli goes really well on this too.
Overall, it has a coffee shop kind of ambience and setting, lively and not too crowded. Their staff are friendly. The soup and its ingredients are fresh and has great quality.
