Bao Makers is a local concept store featuring a modern cafe setting and serves stuffed Chinese steamed buns, coffees and desserts. An interesting fusion concept, blending in various cuisines into each of this ‘baos’ (steamed buns).
The Menu can be found here.
- CHILLI CRAB BAO
Imagine eating at a chilli crab restaurant. This bao lets you experience exactly what a chilli crab will taste like in a few bites. The bao is stuffed well with savoury and succulent crabmeat with chilli crab sauce, and the fried bao is also a reminiscence of the fried mantous that are used to dipped in chilli crab sauce in the restaurant.
- SALTED EGG CHICKEN BAO
Now everything has to be salted egg yolk inclusive, even in these bao concepts. The salted egg yolk was a bit overwhelmed by the crispy and tasty piece of fried chicken, but we can still feel the ‘sandy’ part of it.
- BBQ PULLED PORK BAO
The strands of pork is flavourful and has the braised herbal essence in it. With some mayonnaise and vegetables, each bite gives the pork a creamy and refreshing taste.
- TRUFFLE FRIES
We added truffle fries to our set of baos, and it was worth it. With just $5.00, we get a basket full of crispy and tasty truffle fries.
- KATSU TERI DON
Comes with deep fried chicken flavoured with teriyaki sauce, onsen egg and rice. The meat is crispy, sweet and juicy, each bite of it projects a savoury flavour throughout the mouth.
- TORO TORO PUDDING
The silky milk pudding is a must try when visiting this cafe. Soft yet thick in milky flavour, the pudding gets even more sweetness when mixed with the sweet layer of caramel below. Do remember dig to the bottom when you start eating this pudding to balance out the taste.
The ambience of the cafe is relaxing and peaceful, and is suitable for those who want to be alone and have a coffee. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the food are rather unique. The combinations of bao types and ingredients are smartly done.
